Mengyang's MYbot

Intention

The goal of this project is to get familiar with the process to build an SMS chatbot with Sinatra and Twilio and have fun with the learning process. 

Context

The idea is to build a simple chatbot that can answer basic questions about myself. This could be helpful under scenarios such as someone forgot about when is my birthday but feels awkward to repeatedly ask me.

Process

I used Ruby programming language to develop the script for the conversation (which is basically composed of a series of conditional statements). Then I deployed it to Heroku and connect it to Twilio service to make it function on the phone.

Reflection

I have learned that keywords that are used to be searched in input messages should be carefully chosen since there could be multiple keywords appear in one input message, but only the first keyword will be used to match with an answer.
