DioT 2019: Social Objects - Part 2

Many people have a desire to stay connected to their family and loved ones but don’t necessarily have the time or opportunity to do so, either because of work or distance constraints. Our product provides a simple button interface that communicates feelings/emotions via color (yellow – Love; red – I’m stressed; blue – calm down). This solution allows loved ones to quickly communicate with each other and provide peace of mind and comfort quickly through a simple button press on the wrist.

Our proposed solution is to provide an object that can be each partner can have and use to communicate their availability.

This project connects people with their loved ones who are living at a distance by subtly augmenting objects in their natural surroundings which then become their enchanted versions and magically convey the message of being missed.

Our group intends to utilize the Internet of Things to break the awkwardness of being around new people or the awkwardness of silence through gamification.

Plantr is an empathetic plant that connects you with your loved ones who’s far away from you. It mirrors your inner state, your emotions and feelings, and communicates them to your loved ones visually. It fosters heart to heart connection.

We live in bubbles. Some are larger, affluent bubbles. Others are less fortunate, smaller ones. The gap between these two types of bubbles creates social isolation and neglection. The objective of our project is to facilitate the social connection with immigrants and refugees. 'It's Love O'Clock' allows people in public spaces to show their support and care through digital high-fives and displays the number of supporters in a clock format.

Social media has quickly turned social information sharing into such a fast form that the term ‘viral’ was added to our daily vernacular. Instead of exploring how we can place social interactions on the web and create digital interactions, we wish to turn what the world has been focusing on for the last few decades and create social interactions that stem from the digital web to our daily ‘analog’ lives. More specifically, how might we ‘re-analog-ize’ the virality of social information sharing?

The goal of the project is to provide a very simple and intuitive way to remind people to work out, and motivate them to work out with friends.
